Yes, the video is finally past its technical difficulties, and we're ready to finally get this thing rolling.  It will start at midnight Monday 16July2018, or technically at one minute after midnight CST on Tuesday 17July 2018, however you want to look at it.  Basically, when it gets dark on Monday night, right when it turns to Tuesday, that moment right there is when this will start... :)

Most of you know the details, but in case you want to see the webpage (which we are also still updating), go here... http://yog.sothothery.com

Interior Samples of the Next Book...
almost 6 years ago – Fri, May 04, 2018 at 12:49:16 AM

Greetings Wonderful Backers!

I'm getting feedback that you'd like to get a sneak preview of the INTERIOR of next Spell Book Kickstarter, which is right around the corner (now looking end of May beginning of June).

First, the background:  The idea is that the Book Owner started with a blank set of bound pages and a single spell titled "To Call The Scribes."  Book Owner adds that to the first few pages, casts that one spell, sits back, and waits.  From that point on, each morning when the Book Owner wakes up, a new page (or set of pages) has been written in the book.  The Book Owner chronicles the experience between Scribes, and eventually discovers a terrible truth...

There are nine Scribes total, although one of them is the Translator, who only writes in the marginalia of what other Scribes have written, translating those texts into 1700s English.

Behold a sample page from each of the eight core Scribes plus the Translator's interpretations of the texts... (These are not in the same order at the Tome)

Some of you may notice that this is not entirely original content.  The Egyptian, Latin, Hindu, English, and Nordic all come from my interpretations of actual ancient historical occult texts.  The German, Lovecraftian, and Japanese sections are entirely original.

Hello Wonderful Backers!

You're getting a sneak preview of the next Spell Book Kickstarter, which is right around the corner (ideally end of April or beginning of May).

After the last one, we sent out a survey, and based on your feedback, and a year of work, we're ready to go again.

What's different in this one?

Well first the Exterior...

New Spell Book
New Spell Book
  • Goat hide cover
  • Metal on all eight corners (four front, four back)
  • Metal hinges,
  • Metal Cthulhu sign,
  • Metal clasp,
  • and actual working iron lock and key...

(All the metal except for the lock was designed by us)

And the Interior?

  • 300 Pages of content (that 3x the last book)
  • 9 different sections (for the different magical Scribes)
  • Necromancy in Latin
  • Egyptian Book of the Dead
  • Old Nordic Runes
  • Lovecraftian items, spells, and places
  • Talismans (in English)
  • Japanese spells (in beautiful Kanji)
  • German spells/magic of children
  • Demon list in Hindu
  • Plus a running narrator with the story of the book interspersed throughout.
  • Everything not in English is translated (by hand) in the margins

Add-Ons?

  • Lower Pledge levels and add ons include
  • a paperback (written by me) about fictional modern day necromancy (with some minor ties to the spell book)
  • Raphael's manuscript of talismanic magic, a smaller goat leather bound book written in the early 1900s.

What about the Stretch Goals?

  • Remember Book Four of Occult Philosophy from the last Kickstarter?  Well now we have Books 1-3 which can stand alone or complete the set.  Originally printed in the 1500s.
  • Demonality - Originally printed in 1879, this is a very detailed book in Latin with English translations all about intercourse with Demons (succubi and incubi)
  • The famed Malleus Maleficarum in the original Latin, but with woodcut illustrations added.  Originally published in the late 1400s.
  • And the monster-sized illustrated Dictionnaire Infernal, which while written in Olde French, contains entries on all sorts of horrors, monsters and demons, and is HUGE.  It looks right out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.
Dictionnaire Infernal (Left) Demonality (Right lower) and the Add-On handbook of Talismans (Right upper)

If you want more books and other final thoughts...
about 7 years ago – Sat, Mar 18, 2017 at 11:56:49 PM

Hello wonderful wonderful backers!

This Kickstarter is finally drawing to a close.  Your feedback has made my heart soar like a hawk, and yes, I'm already starting work on the next set of books.  It may take several months, but I'm confident there will be more in the days to come.

Hopefully by now you have all gotten your stuff, or will soon.  Again, if you have any issues, or suggestions for more books or things you would like to see in books, please send an email to [email protected].

I've been asked what is still available.  The good news is most of it, although post kickstarter prices are a little higher because we've shut everything down.

Here is a link for the Main Books including the goat hide leather spell book, the imitation leather spell book, and the add-on books.  Unfortunately, if you wanted the deer hide version, we made 40 total, and that may be it forever.  I have 1-2 leftover that I am considering putting on some sort of auction, but I don't think we'll be making any more of those.

Here is a link for the Unwanted RPG/LARP now for sale on Amazon.

Here is a link for the Damage Cards via DriveThruRPG.  This actually just gets you to Blades and Bullets, but Breaks and Bruises and Unspeakable Horrors show up in the "people who bought this also bought this" section below it.

Again, thank you all, and hopefully we'll be seeing more of each other in the not-too-distant future.

Sincerely, and maybe with just a hint of Lovecraftian mischievousness,

-Steve

How to store books
about 7 years ago – Tue, Mar 14, 2017 at 06:47:23 PM

Hello wonderful backers!

Now that people are getting their books, I've been asked the best way to store them.

I recommend a cool relatively dry place out of direct sunlight and away from radiators or heating vents, as the increased temperature can crack bindings. Place the boxes of books on a shelf, so they're protected in case of leaks or floods.  When you read them, if possible, avoid opening them up to a full 180 degrees, and prop the sides up to open them at an angle.

Hope that helps!
